Defending the Faith is an important part of the Christian life. Remember, though, some who challenge your beliefs aren’t really interested in an answer. They just want to argue. If any one purifies himself from what is ignoble, then he will be a vessel for noble use, consecrated and useful to the master of the house, ready for any good work.

So shun youthful passions and aim at righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call upon the Lord from a pure heart. Have nothing to do with stupid, senseless controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kindly to every one, an apt teacher, forbearing, correcting his opponents with gentleness.

God may perhaps grant that they will repent and come to know the truth, and they may escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will. (2 Timothy 2:21–26) IN GOD’S PRESENCE, CONSIDER… 

Do I respond to questions and challenges about my Faith in Christ with anger or impatience? Am I aware that if the only tool I have is a hammer, I will tend to approach every problem as if it was a nail?

CLOSING PRAYER: Lord, I know there are times when I should speak up in defense of the truth of your teachings. Please grant me the courage to respond gracefully when I should and the wisdom to know when not to get involved in what would become a senseless quarrel.
